CLASS INFO

The upcoming 2024 Season will see NZ River racing spearheading an Evolution of our FX class.

Over the past few years, we have noticed the slow demise of the current FX Crate engine class.
This has been due to a number of factors.

In NZ the main issues have been lack of engine availability and the rising costs of compliance with the crate engine requirements.

This has seen competitor numbers decline and the class struggling to gain sufficient numbers to compete.
RRNZ have tried for many years to adopt an “entry” level race class and FX has been the most successful class we have had to fill this space with this class being the launching pad for many of the competitors racing today.

The intention will be to adapt the current FX class so we still retain a Class where entry level racers can experience river racing for the first time or Past Campaigners can get back onto the water this will also allow people to compete in our sanctioned races on probably the most cost-effective platform, we have had in many years.

From RRNZ point of view this change will give any racer with the intention of moving into the CX-A-Unlimited Race classes somewhere to begin without having to drastically reconfigure hulls and engine setups to step up making FX evo a true feeder class.

The end goal of this class is to encourage growth in our sport and get people hooked into River Racing. The rules while basic, rely heavily on sportsman like conduct to work.

Unlike previous attempts at entry level classes (sport jet, R class, Club class) this will be a true competition class as such all our compliance rules will come into effect and there will be no dispensations or deviations from our implemented safety rules.
(the same as our current FX Class)
